Amy’s Weekly Challenge this week is to exercise our SOULS!
Because this has been such a hectic week, this is taking place of Fashion Friday…boo me right?? Besides, I have been (and AM) so busy at work that this is really the only thing that I have time to write about – because I already know MOST of the answers – therefore it’s a little less thought!!
Anyway, moving right along!!
Long Term Goal:
My long term goal is to reach a healthy weight. Does that sound like a cop-out??? It might be!! I have been overweight my entire life. I don’t know what works for me. Number wise I just chose 150…but who is to say that I might reach the 170′s and go “this works!”.
Even more important than losing weight is that I aim to have a better relationship with food. Right now I use food as a comfort, I will eat too much if I feel I won’t have an opportunity to have a certain food again soon, I will eat because I am bored, etc. I want to be able to track “loosely” one day (I have a feeling I will always need to write it down, but I would like to not have to count everything). I believe it is key to keep track of everything regardless of whether you are counting or not (disagree with me?? Then why do food bloggers continue to take pictures of their food even if they aren’t counting/trying to lose – it’s a good way to keep track without keeping a food journal!)
Long Term Reward:
KICK ASS new wardrobe…we are talking SERIOUSLY kick ass.
Also a pair of diamond earrings (Danny promised me he would get them for me when I reach my goal)
Mostly I hope I have some happiness with my body!!
Short Term Goals:
Well, I make these weekly…so this is hard for me to put in here…
I usually base them on what I think I did poorly on the week before…I keep a tally of how much water I drink during a day, how many times I drank pop, how many vegetables I ate, when I exercised and for how long, etc.
For example, this weeks goals:
- Drink 2 L of water per day (I can’t tell you how bad I was at this last week)
- Walk Charlie every morning
- Exercise 3 times (aside from morning walks)
- Get in 7 Fruit and Veggie servings
- Choose fruit/veggies over desserts/snacks as often as possible
(I also make some mental/life goals in there too, but I am choosing not to write them on here right now)
Short Term Goal Rewards:
I reward myself for every 10 lbs lost.
I give myself a sticker on my calendar if I acheived all my weekly goals (at the end of the week) and basically a 10 lb loss is my reward (eventually) for putting in that work.
And my rewards for the 10 lb loss are ALWAYS changing! I have a wishlist that changes constantly…I just allow myself to get something from that list when I achieve the goal! Simple!! It keeps me happy, and since these items are usually bigger ticket items, it gives me time to save up for them as well!
Anyway…that’s what I have got!!
Have a great weekend!!!

Great post Jen! Love your goals.
With regards to food blogging…a lot of food bloggers don’t take photos as a way to “track” per se, but to share their love for all things food. For some lucky people food can be a hobby and a passion, and not at all a struggle.
I’ll probably write down what I eat in order to stay “on track” for the rest of my days. Hey, whatever works for you, right?

Great work! They key will be to NOT give yourself rewards ahead of time if you’re not sticking to your guns. They won’t feel like rewards if you decide to get them anyway, right?

I love the idea of rewards for motivation.
I’m thinking it might be a good idea for my goal. I seem to always gain some good momentum towards it and then give up.
Maybe if I had some fabulous reward I’d be more inclined to stick to the plan?!
LOVE the new wardrobe reward…

Awh, the best part of workout out and losing weight- a new wardrobe by default! ! ! There is motivation alone to workout. Good luck… you can make these goals!
