Okay! So I am back!!!
I wanted more than anything to get a chance to sit at my computer yesterday…but there didn’t seem to be any time!!
We got home super late on Sunday night, ate dinner, watched a little TV and went to bed.
Yesterday was busy with all the stuff that you would ordinarily do during the week/weekend (vet appointments, cleaning, laundry, groceries, etc.) and I REALLY was not looking forward to going back to work!!
I actually took this vacation as a REAL vacation…I didn’t carry my camera around (therefore I don’t really have any pictures) and we didn’t have too much scheduled (when we were on our own).
So QUICK recap here…especially because I don’t have pictures for filler.
Day 1 – we arrive in Vancouver, pick up our rental, get screwed around by rental company who doesn’t have a car available and then CHARGES us for a different vehicle even though I requested a car. We drive to Vancouver to help the groom pick up a gift for the bride and start our trek to Kelowna.
Day 2 – Kelowna – mine and my husbands’ wedding anniversary. We spend the day doing stuff for his grandparents (it was their 60th anniversary celebration that day…not their actual anniversary just the only day they could have it). That day was a gong show. Finally the “kids” (grandchildren) went to a pub for some drinks.
Day 3 – Husband and I say we are going to a winery. We get dragged to a ma and pa operation down the road from his Nana’s house…the wine was cheap but surprisingly delicious, so we did buy a bottle of each. Finally we got sick of being told what to do, we decided to rent a speedboat and whoever wanted to come with us could do so. It ended up just being us and Danny’s parents and his brothers and we had a nice time at the lake.
Day 4 – left late from Kelowna, had to stop in White Rock to the dress shop for a fitting for my dress. FINALLY get to Kelowna and do a bit of shopping (seriously, only a bit, I bought a Lulu water bottle and a couple of things from Banana Republic, my HUSBAND bought Prada Aviators – shocked the hell out of me!). Finally made it back to our hotel (our beast of a rental was NOT good in Vancouver traffic!!!) – our hotel was GORGEOUS, thanks to Cat’s suggestion!!! Then we left for our LOVELY (Romantic) dinner at the Teahouse in Stanley Park (it was our late Anniversary dinner)…we went to the Teahouse upon’s Cat’s suggestion and she was DEFINITELY 2 for 2 at this point!! It was romantic AND tasty…the service was superb and it was all around a good time.
Day 5 – we wake up and try to return our rental car for something smaller, no dice. So what shall we do??? Meet up with Cat of course!!!! She and her friend Breanne took us down to Granville Island to the Market where we had a fantastic time!! Or at least I did!! We peeked around at all the cool stuff and I wanted to buy SO much!!! I settled for some FABULOUS fresh cherries and oh yeah…a tart and an eclair – YUM!!! If our hotel had a proper fridge I probably would have left with an armload of cheese as well…it really made me wish I lived somewhere with more resources and fresh foods!!! We made our way to Chambar that night with Cat, Mike and Breanne (thank you again for driving Cat!!!) and had ANOTHER wonderful delicious meal!! Chambar was cozy and dark and served Belgian food…seriously, these guys spoke my language!! I got mussels AND they served fries with it!!! OH! And Cat and I each ordered a Fruli beer in honor of Toronto! It was a wonderful night, I couldn’t even believe the time when we got back to the hotel!!
Day 6 – Danny and I slept in for one of the first times on our vacation, it was fantastic! However, we were supposed to leave early to get to the aquarium, so we hurried along!! The Aquarium was a LOT of fun, but after 2 hours around hyper screaming kids (who step on your feet!!! argh!) and lots of line ups and crowds…I was just ready to get out of there!! I did love everything I saw while I was there though!!! We met up with Cat’s friend Breanne at the mall and then Cat met up with us shortly afterwards. We broke for a little bit so we could each go get ready and the husband and I took a little sidetrip to Tiffany where he bought me a little something for our anniversary! It was so exciting!!! Then Cat picked us up again (I can’t even thank you enough!!!) and took us to the Sandbar where, once again, my tastebuds were NOT disappointed!!! I had YUMMY crab cakes and sushi, a taste of Breanne’s scallops (heaven) and some DELICIOUS salmon, not to mention a sinful white chocolate cheesecake to finish it off….mmmm…I didn’t eat ONE bad tasting thing while in Vancouver!!!
I think I will wait to recap the wedding tomorrow because this post is just getting WAY too long!!! OH, but an interesting thing to note. I forgot to weigh myself before I left, but I was down 3 lbs from my last weigh in when I got home…I think that’s pretty great!

Aww sounds super fabulous! I bet it was all the walking and running around you did – plus it’s easier to lose weight when you’re relaxed and not TOO obsessed with eating, I find anyways!
Can’t wait to hear what this little anniversary present is!!
