Sometimes chocolate DOES make it better

Today was one of those days that I just NEEDED chocolate. There are times that you want it, sometimes you THINK you need it and times that you NEED it!!!

FOR ME, that time is “THAT” time…you know?

I went off the pill back in May and, personally, I think that is one of the worst decisions I have ever made…I am SERIOUSLY tempted to go BACK on the pill (I even have the prescription in hand).

Let me be the first to say, I am not a wuss. I have a ridiculously high pain tolerance and I am usually the one to just “suck it up”. Since May, that has been damn near impossible.

I have been calling in sick one day per month so I could just scream in pain in the comfort of my own home – it is uncomfortable to sit, stand, walk, bend over backwards, curl in a fetal position, stand on my head, you name it, I have tried it to no avail.

I got the “surprise” at work today and I popped 2 extra strength tylenol, followed by a Mars bar that I would have killed somebody for if I didn’t have $1.75 in my purse or if the machine had eaten my money. Luckily for me (and for all those involved), the process went smoothly and WOW! An hour later and I am sitting here pain free and happy…imagine that!!!

Now I feel like I can actually GO home and make the somewhat healthy (at least not take out) meal that I had planned for the evening, I can hop on the Wii and do my days workout for the 30 day challenge (which is going great!) and I can possibly fit in an hour long walk for the dog. Even better is that I re-arranged my day to fit IN that chocolate bar!! How sweet is that??

Anyway, I should also note here that I saw ANOTHER loss on the scale this weekend, much smaller than last weeks and smaller than what I saw in the middle of last week, but still, 3 lbs is nothing to cry about!

On that note though, my goals for this week are to: 1) not look at the scale during the week and 2) to pack my lunches and plan my outfits the night before (I am just hating the “rush” in the morning!!)

Today’s Menu (it’s not the GREATEST)

Breakfast: Carnation instant breakfast

Snack: 100 cal cheese nips

Lunch: 2/3 cup leftover beercan chicken, 3/4 cup potatoes and 1 cup asparagus, mini aero bar (STILL needed chocolate!)

Snack: Mars Bar (heaven!)

Dinner: Blue menu hamburger on thin bun with cheddar and 1 ready crisp bacon strip, 1.5 cups salad

Dessert: not sure – maybe a cookie or a leftover tart…

Exercise: Wii Active

  • oooh! Why’d you go off the pill!!?!? Something to share? ;)

I heard that getting lots of calcium the weeks BEFORE your period help reduce cramps and PMS (not right before because it makes it worse then.)

And I think, if a Mars bar every month is what’s required to feel ok, then that is a small price to pay.

  • Ohhh girl, I totally understand your pain! That’s the whole reason that I went on the pill when I was 16!!

Sounds like you know exactly what to do to make yourself better though!

Just a thought (this comes from having an ER nurse as a mom) You may want to try using extra-strength Ibuprophen (Advil) as it is an anti-inflammatory as apposed to Acitaminophen (Tylenol) which is for more like…headachy pain. Regardless, it’s what works for you, but Advil normally works for me…

Wow on the 3 pounds Jen! That’s what…10.4 pounds in 2 weeks! That’s like a whole size! Good for you lady! I’m SO proud of you, you have NO idea!!

    Keep up the fantastic work!!

  • Sometimes?

I need chocolate every day. More during ‘that time.’ :)

  • BRUTAL! Thank heavens I never had too much of a problem in the woman pain department!

    Hail to the Mars!! :-D

Great job Jen you lost another THREE pounds!!! That’s like TEN!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah sista!!!

  • I agree with Lainey – in my world, chocolate ALWAYS makes things better :)

  • This was one of the most true posts I’ve ever read ;) Chocolate rules! I’ve seen miracles happening cause of it really :D Though I have o admit, though I’m a fan f it, yesterday I had a strange feeling that I really needed jelly gums!
