Just the two of us

I decided to steal do Amber’s meme that she did on her blog on the weekend. Sometimes it’s hard to think of things to blog about, but seeing as my husband and I just passed 9 years together, I figured it would be fun!!

*on a side note - I got sick of feeling so “blah” – even though I am working on “Spicing” up my life, I was still feeling not so great…so I pulled my butt out of bed at 6 am this morning and worked up a good sweat before work! Also got in a litre of water before I even left the house…what a start to the day!!!

What are your middle names?
Issabella Lauren and Joseph (and actually, Issabella is part of my first name – Jennifer-Issabella, but I don’t use it because it freaking long…and funny story, for our wedding we used our full names in the ceremony, but decided to cut out “Lauren” because it was a big mouthful…anyway, I guess the pastor got a little messed up and one point and just a little flustered, he decided to just call me Jennifer instead he ended up calling me “Joseph”…which, needless to say, got a few chuckles)

How long have you been together?
We had our first date on November 4, 2000 and became “official” on November 11, 2000…(yeah, we “dated” for a week)…so we have been together JUST over 9 years

How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We knew each other since grade 10 and started dating in our first year of College…so 3.5 years before that??

Who asked whom out?
I asked him.

How old are each of you?
I’m 26 and he’s 27. He is 11 months older than me so I always call him an old man. And we started dating when I was 17 and he was 18, so I called him a cradle robber (aren’t I sweet??)

Whose siblings do you see the most?
Hmmm…we rarely see our siblings actually…his brother works a 6 on, 6 off shift (and goes to Boyle for his 6 off) and me and my sister don’t talk much…I would say we see his brother more.

Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple?
The hardest thing we ever faced was living with his parents for 1.5 years when we moved back to our hometown…it wasn’t hard on him, but it WAS hard on me…his mom isn’t very nice to me and I took it out on him a lot (though in my defense, he should have stood up for me more than he did). Anyway, we have lived on our own for almost 3 years now and it has been MUCH better ever since…we don’t really fight a lot, just bicker a bit.

Did you go to the same school?
Yes, we went to the same high school and college (not elementary) and then he went to University and I didn’t.

Are you from the same home town?
BASICALLY. We both grew up in the same town though were born in different places.

Who is smarter?
I think that is a tough call. I think we are both smart. He is a computer genius and a history whiz and I am awesome at Math and pretty darn good in English (at least those were my strongest subjects). I would say he is smarter than I am academically, but I definitely can hold my own.

Who is the most sensitive?
HANDS DOWN, me

Where do you eat out most as a couple?
Um…we don’t go out a lot just the two of us…and there are only a handful of restaurants in my town…we eat a lot of western food (like Boston Pizza, Moxies, etc.) but I would say mostly Subway.

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
Los Cabos, Mexico in January of this year

Who has the craziest exes?
Me. I am the only one WITH exes (news flash: I was my husbands’ first girlfriend – first EVERYTHING!)

Who has the worst temper?
Me. I grew up in a family that yells. I learned from the best. 9 years and he has never yelled at me. I feel like “she who yells loudest has the best point”…I am also terribly stubborn. But I try to just keep quiet and wait until the flash of anger passes so I don’t yell.

Who does the cooking?
Me…he has to follow instructions for Kraft Dinner…he measures the water and everything…too cute

Who is the neat-freak?
Him. I cook, he cleans. We both wish the other would do more. I am organized, but I am okay with my clothes sitting on the bench in our room or my makeup scattered over the counter.

Who is more stubborn?
OOOH! ME! ME!!! See above with the “temper” question!

Who hogs the bed?
The cats!

Who wakes up earlier?
During the week, him. On the weekends, me.

Where was your first date?
First at McDonalds for ice cream and then at my house for a movie (where we held hands!! Hee hee!)

Who is more jealous?
Both…we each have our share of the green-eyed monster…

How long did it take to get serious?
We said “I love you” after two weeks…other stuff after one month, and he proposed after one year (though we waited another 1.5 years to get married)

Who eats more?
Mostly the husband (when we compare portions) but I snack a LOT!

Who does the laundry?
We each do our own

Who’s better with the computer?
He says that I could teach him a few things in Microsoft Office – and I know WAY more about Twitter and Facebook and stuff than he does (AND I have a Mac and use photoshop and all that) – HOWEVER I disagree with him. He is a computer science major, therefore, I believe he knows WAY more than me!!

Who drives when you are together?
Me. I am the WORST backseat driver known to man….seriously terrible (stemming from a really bad accident I was in almost 12 years ago). He rides a bus to work during the week and therefore doesn’t pay as much attention driving as I do…I just can’t take it!

FUN!

  • I love reading these things! You two are so cute. :)

That is interesting that you each do your own laundry. All ours just goes into 2 piles (okay HUGE piles by the end of the week) and Jason washes it and then I fold it. I would have sooooo much more laundry then him if I had to do my own.

  • I thought Andrew and I were the only ones that did our own laundry! :)

    Loved reading this!

  • I loved this!

  • Yay! Thanks for playing along, so fun!

I would go CRAZY if I had to live with Eric’s parents. We get along and they are super nice to me but they are just very different from us, kind of old fashioned I guess, and I think it would just drive me nuts. You are one strong chickie for sticking it out for 1.5 years!!!

  • I loved reading this too! So much fun. And yeah, we did the living with the parents thing for a while (mine, and only for 3 months)… it was hard on both of us!

  • Our cats are bed hogs, too!

My husband is over 9 years older than me…and he complained about the way I do laundry so now he does it. :D

I liked reading this, too, and now I want to do it but I don’t want to copycat, lol.

  • OMG I get SANDWICHED between my cats and Dave!

I literally laughed out loud when I read Danny measures when he cooks KD – so do I!!! LOL

I, too, am the driver between the both of us – all of the ladies who got a ride with us that weekend would never know it though since he was always driving lol

Is it weird that I can actually HEAR you as I read this post? If that makes sense…. hahha

    miss uuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • very interesting! thanks for sharing.

  • You sound like a perfectly match couple to me! I was my husband’s first everything too. That makes me feel very special and honored ;-)
