Bad Apple

I apologize for the lack of posting this past week. It doesn’t mean anything bad. No falling off the proverbial wagon, nothing of the sorts.

Just busy wth something I am volunteering for at work, school work and just life in general!!

I got my mac back the other day…I was so excited…it had been brought in for repairs back in August. I got it back in September, and the problem hadn’t been fixed, so it went in again. I heard back from them in October saying that it couldn’t be fixed and they would replace it for me with the brand new imac that just came out. I was pretty excited. They told me it would be about 3 weeks until a new one could come in, but ended up calling sooner than that.

Now here is the bad part. The nearest Apple store is FIVE hours away from my town…so that’s a 10 hour round trip…seeing as we haven’t been there since the original trip in August, I have had about 5 different people handle the damn thing since then…

So yeah, I was a bit miffed when Apple told me that my computer was ready the DAY AFTER my best friend came home from Edmonton and could have picked it up….especially since it had been not 4 days before that they said it would be 3 weeks…me thinks they didn’t know what they were talking about.

I spoke to a manager and they explained that they couldn’t ship to me, but I could pay a courier company to pick it up – not an option seeing as it would cost me less to drive there and pick it up if only I have the time.

I got my beloved back on Tuesday night…and I was so excited to work on it. Only to learn that while they did give me a new computer…they failed to give me the things I loved about my old computer…mainly the pictures and music that I had on it and nowhere else (I say this as kindly as possible when I say please spare me the “you need to back up” comments – i’ve seen the Sex and the City episode, I know, I know, I know – in fact we DID get a back up device when I got the computer back the first time. It just wouldn’t power on long enough for me to save anything). So I am missing about 2000 songs and 1500 pictures.

I don’t know what Apple is going to do about it…but I am thinking they are going to need to compensate me SOMEHOW. And I seriously hope they comply.

I am certain I can transfer the music over from my ipod back to the computer…but those pictures are gone…and I even deleted them from facebook after the incident a few weeks back….I hope to god that I can get them……

  • Seriously a BUMMER that they wouldn’t mail it to you! It really would have cost a lot for a courier to come get it? I just sent my laptop up to Edmonton because my cousin lives there and is going to fix it for free for me and it only cost me $40 to send it through Fedex and that was WITH $500 insurance!

Anyways, hope you figure out something with your comp!

  • Oh no! I can’t believe they couldn’t send it to you. Ridiculous!

  • Aw hon! There’s nothing worse than losing pictures!! I lost all my songs a few months ago too. I ended up asking a few friends to burn me their mp3′s on DVD’s so that I could start somewhere again. It makes me laugh when I’m working out and “ice ice baby” comes on. I started laughing on the treadmill when I got pumped up to “mo town philly” ;-)

Seriously though, not good to lose that stuff at all :-( You are reminding me to make sure to back up pronto!

  • That totally blows – I would be quite pissed off. They should be able to get you back those pics and songs and you are right they totally should of thought of that in the first place!!

  • Aw! I’d be so upset if I lost all my pictures. I hope they can recover them for you.
