A little bit of background:
I am a 26 year old “young married”. I live in cold Northern Alberta with my husband, dog (Charlie), and 2 cats (Mikka – girl and Nico – boy). My husband and I were college sweethearts and have been married for 5.5 years. He is a techno-geek and the love of my life.
We are constantly trying to figure things out…we purchased our 2nd house this year and we are absolutely in love with it. Along with all these experiences, we are finding new responsibilities…along with much talk of the future…scary thoughts.
In August 2006, I started Weight Watchers. I successfully lost 90 lbs on the program but gained about 20 lbs back when I “fell off the wagon”…I struggle daily to get myself back into a groove and I think I have found it. I try not to focus TOO hard on food because I tend to get obsessed. So while there will be some weight loss chit chat, there is guaranteed to be some other fluff in between. Currently I track my calories through Sparkpeople.com, in a good week I try to follow the 80/20 rule and eat whole foods 80 % of the time and my processed junk 20%…it works some weeks and not so well on others…still trying to figure that one out!!!
I work in the construction industry as a Contract Administrator. It is not my ideal career path so I am working to change it. I am working my way through a course for my Mortgage Associate License. I am a bit of a math geek and am leaning towards a career in Finance. Where does this put my partial degree in Human Resources?? Who knows…I have changed my degree a million times so far.
I am an avid reader and will pretty much read any book put in front of me…the answer to the “million dollar question” : “What would you do if money was no object?” EASY! I would be a writer. I love to write and I find it therapeutic…therefore blogging is a good outlet for me. It allows me to put my thoughts and ideas in front of me instead of jumbling them in my head where things get a little scary at times!! I love all books and many different writing styles. Nice segue into MY writing style…I tend to write as a conversation…and I am a lover of punctuation (the ellipses and the exclamation point in particular). Sadly, this is how I talk in real life, lots of pensive pauses and I gesticulate wildly (so much so my husband likes to duck out of the way) and I often speak with a LITTLE too much enthusiasm…as far as the written word goes, though, I like a nice CLEAN look. Therefore you will probably see a lot of CAPITALS and quite a few bold words…if you see those, that isn’t me trying to copy people (as I have noticed a LOT of bold lettering out there lately)…more so just words I want to put an emphasis on. Makes perfect sense, right??? (and yes, I actually shrugged my shoulders while writing that!)
And finally, I am an avid shopper…I am addicted to shoes and handbags and anything made by Coach!! Sometimes I spend more than I should and I am definitely trying to cut back…this is something I will need to work on in the New Year!
Thanks for stopping by to learn a little more about me!
